Echoes of Troy

I wrote this under my other pen-name, “Kurt Christiansen”. Reading the Iliad and the Aeneid formed my spiritual basis, my weltanschauung.


According to Vigil’s epic the “The Aeneid”, the promises of the Gods were fulfilled when the Trojan hero Aeneas, (son of Anchises and the goddess Venus), voyaged to Italy and helped found the Roman people.    But what of Anchises’ other sons? Acestes, Elymnos and Eryx. Eryx blazed a trail across the glittering sea from the burnt ruins of Troy to the wind-swept cliffs that bear his name in northwest Sicily.


Acestes and Elymnos made it to the banks of the River Crinius, where they founded Segesta, settled by refugees from Troy.


These trails were forged at the commands of the Gods themselves, in the wake of the Trojan War. In these journeys and in these faces you will see and feel the Echoes of Troy.

This bay (Castellamare del Golfo) was the harbor for the remnants of the Trojan Fleet.
